IVF Infusions for NK Cells

IVF Infusions for NK Cells is a sterile fat emulsion used as a source of calories and essential fatty acids. The infusion is made up of 20% soybean oil, 1.2% egg yolk phospholipids , 2.25% glycerin, and water for injection. It is given as a slow intravenous infusion and is usually well tolerated with few side effects.

There is an emerging role for sterile fat emulsion infusions in the management of subfertility and infertility.  Evidence is coming to light that suggests women who suffer from recurrent miscarriages or “implantation failure” when undertaking IVF, may in fact be suffering the effects of an overactive component of the immune system: the natural killer or “NK” cell.

It is believed natural killer cells may attack egg , sperm and even a developing embryo or foetus. This can result in difficulty achieving pregnancy, maintaining the pregnancy and ultimately, repeated miscarriages.

Early evidence suggests that when the sterile fat emulsion is infused prior to conception and regularly thereafter, it may be able to reduce the activity of NK cells, resulting in a greater chance of successful pregnancy.

The Infusion Clinic is proud to be able to offer affordable sterile fat emulsion infusions where prescribed by your doctor.  We accept referrals from doctors from all institutions.  If you believe you may benefit from such therapy, we recommend you speak with your O&G or fertility specialist.
